Pandemic, Patriotism and Pride

March 23rd was a sad day for our 126 year old business.

Forced by the State of Michigan to close due to the Covid-19 virus we said goodbye to our staff as they left for what we hoped would be a short term layoff.

While production at our 126 year old mill was idled an amazing thing happened. Folks from across the USA placed over 300 orders with us and we shipped our wool bedding to homes in every State in the Union. This amazing response made April and May our best sales months ever.

The groundswell of support for products made in the USA was also felt by our wholesale customers. Not only did our partners honor their existing orders, some even added additional products to keep up with demand.

Our crew wouldn't return to work until May 18th. Welcoming them back to their jobs after an 8 week layoff was a relief in more ways than one. They returned refreshed but most importantly, healthy.

With a backlog of orders and facing a depleted inventory our team did what  Frankenmuth Woolen Mill employees have done since 1894. They rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

Today our 126 year old Mill is returning to normal. You can almost feel the history in our old building and sense the pride that can only come from 126 years of hard work.

We believe we have survived the worst of the pandemic and would like to thank everyone who has supported us the past 126 years.
