Starting back in the early 1900's the employees of the Frankenmuth Woolen Mill would write on the walls of the mills upstairs to keep track of when their equipment was serviced. This attention to detail is why we are still using this equipment today!
Some times reading the writing on the wall isn't a bad thing!
