The Benefits of Wool

Temperature Regulating

From bitter cold to tropic heat, wool is a natural insulator and regulates your body temperature. The tiny pockets within the wool become the same temperature as your body temperature and allow air to breathe. This allows you the perfect night's sleep.

Pure & Sustainable

Wool is a 100% renewable resource. Each year sheep are sheared for their wool as it is a necessary part of ranching. Rest assured, the sheep that grow your wool are still happily grazing California meadows.

Healthy & Clean

Frankenmuth Woolen Mill bedding is great for sufferers of fibromyalgia and arthritis because wool is a supportive bedding that distributes weight evenly. Wool is naturally hypo-allergenic, thus it repels dust mites and wicks moisture for a more sound sleep.

Wool Sourcing

Our commitment to quality and great sleep starts with our wool. We scoured the country to find ranchers who not only treat their sheep humanely but also share in our passion of providing materials and products that are made in the USA.

Proccessing

Once the wool arrives at the Mill, it is processed traditionally using our century-old machinery. It's hand washed in bathtubs using 180 degree water and dried for 3 - 5 days depending on the time of year. After the wool is dried it is taken to our carding room where it's combed and processed on one-hundred year old equipment using no chemicals or oils.

After the wool is processed it's taken to our finishing area where certified organic cotton fabric and wool is stretched over wooden frames and tied in the old European fashion ~ being tied by hand. Tying holds the wool in place and keep the wool secure so the wool doesn't move around inside. After the Wool Filled Comforter is tied, the edges sewn and it's ready for sale.

I am so happy with my complete bedding set. It is cozy and not to hot for Texas. Much better than poly filled for health and comfort.

Sewn-in Corner Loops

Yep there are corner loops alright. I had to pay $20 to have corner loops. I assumed someone would be sewing them on to-order, but instead I got a bag marked "king-corner loops" so they just do a bunch ahead of time to make it easier. That's fine, but paying $20 extra for it is a bit petty, especially since I was hoping to get a 5th loop sewn into the top center. That email was never responded to.

Incredible customer service from Matt Curtis at Frankenmuth Woolen Mill! My new Woolen comforter was rejected by the USPS and I contact Matt who took care of the issue and it promptly delivered to my home address. It's rare to experience this level of dedication and care. The comforter is amazing and the service was even better. Thank you!

Soft lush and extremely great for someone who sleeps hot

Sewn-in Corner Loops

I decided to give up my electric blanket. I exchanged it for wool socks and enjoyed the warmth. However, I wanted a full fledge blanket. I started researching wool blankets and the came acroos the Frankenmuth Woolen Company. Being a native of Michigan, I have visited Frankemuth many times and knew of this store. I had never been inside. I did more research and became excited about the comforters. This is one of my best purchases. I got a queen size 4 pound version with loops. I am old enough to have been around before weighted blankets became a thing. First of all, the comforter is absolutely beautiful! It is nothing like the white comforters I have used in hotels. I did enclose it in a cover to protect it. On the first night, I snuggled into it, in the summer and felt wonderful! I slept soundly all night. This is something I have not done in many years. I thought it was due to (age 71) aging. Maybe not. I have had several nights of deep sleep. I am contemplating getting the lightweight version. This current version does provide the "weight" comfort I need. I want to see how the lighter version does since I tend to fold this one back.
